Please see below for Local Residency Criteria
- Applicants must be first time buyers with a local connection to the National Park area (see below), but priority will be given to applicants with a local connection to Dolgarrog. Applicants will have to be able to purchase the property themselves. The grant, if awarded, can only be used to assist with the cost of works to bring the property up to standard, and not for the purchase itself.
- The size of the property must be appropriate to the applicant’s needs. As a general rule, it should have no more than one bedroom above the current needs of your household.
- Eligible works must be agreed, upon inspection by the Council, before an application can be submitted.
- This type of assistance is discretionary and is subject to eligibility
- Applicants must reside at the property as their sole or main home for a minimum of 5 years after completion of the works.
- The grant will be secured as a charge against the property and will remain in place for a period of five years from the date of completion of work.
- The grant must be repaid in full if the applicant sells (or otherwise disposes of) the property before the end of the five year period.
- The grant is based on the cost of the eligible works, up to a maximum of £7500.
- If the grant does not cover the full cost of the work, the applicant will need to demonstrate that he/she has sufficient finance in place to cover the shortfall.
- The grant will normally be paid on satisfactory completion of the works. However, it may be possible for an interim payment to be made (e.g. where the contractor has to order items to be made to fit – such as windows)
Please note that an offer of a grant is not guaranteed until formal approval has been given by the Council. Any works undertaken prior to receiving approval will be at the owner’s own cost and risk.
